Missteps mean this board has got to go
The Wheeling village president and the board have to go. First, they spend millions on a new village hall, police station, maintenance building and fire station. Then they raise property taxes 7.5 percent.
Since I moved in to my present home in 2004 my property value has dropped by 20 percent while my taxes have increased by 35 percent.
On top of that they acknowledged that they mistakenly overspent by $100,000 on the maintenance building and the new fire house is less than three miles from the main fire house on Dundee Road.
The village board's spending has been irresponsible as people are out of work and property values are declining in Wheeling.
