Scouting the Fire: The Fire defense needs to show it can play well for a full 90 minutes. The attack has struggled to connect in the final third of the field. Still, this should be a good chance for the Fire (0-2-1, 1 point) to get the first MLS win for new coach Carlos de los Cobos.
Scouting D.C. United: United (0-0-3, 0 points) looks like a team destined for the league basement. The defense is in shambles, and Chris Pontius, who played so well as a rookie last year, hasn't regained his form.
