Illini center Simpson plans transfer
Little-used center Stan Simpson has left the Illinois basketball team and plans to transfer to another school.
Illinois spokesman Derrick Burgess said Thursday the 6-foot-10 redshirt freshman hasn't yet decided where to transfer. Simpson plans to finish the spring semester and then move on.
Illinois coach Bruce Weber said in a news release that Simpson will transfer to try to get more playing time.
Simpson played 17 minutes in eight appearances off the Illini bench this season. He scored four points and had three rebounds.
Simpson came to Illinois from Chicago Simeon High School, making several all-state teams his senior year.
