Health bill details just don't add up

I am a health insurance agent that works out of Lombard. I was torn between the desire to see a health care bill put in place and the equal desire to see our president do something to help our economy because ultimately when you improve the economy you improve the health of the citizens who live here.

I looked over some of the bullet points of this bill

• In 2014 everyone must purchase health insurance coverage or face a $695 annual fee (exceptions for low income people).

• Technically there is no employee mandate. Employers with more than 50 employees must provide health insurance or pay a fine of $2,000 per worker each year if any worker receives federal subsidies to purchase health insurance. I am curious on how our president and Congress expect the public or employer to "pay" for these fees when most if not all of our industry is outsourced?

I would also like to challenge President Obama and Congress to allow us to remove their current health insurance plans and underwrite them with individual carriers that the rest of us have to use. I wonder how they would feel when they were underwritten by strangers who would scrutinize their height and weight, medications taken and the chance that they are smokers like our President because smoking is a rate up!

Insurance is to be used to pay for the things that you cannot pay for. I have taught many of my clients on how and where to get what they need to make them safe. If President Obama would just sit down and listen to us, the ones that work with the people every single day this would be a no brainer.
