Purdue gives football coach Hope 1-year extension

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue football coach Danny Hope has agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2014 season.

The school announced Wednesday that the deal provides guaranteed compensation of $900,000 for 2010, with bonuses tied to academic, athletic and paid attendance performance that could total up to an additional $500,000.

Hope initially signed a six-year contract with the Boilermakers in January 2008, with the first year as associate head coach and the remaining five as head coach.

In his first season at the helm, the Boilermakers went 5-7. Purdue was 1-5 in mid-October, but finished well and beat Ohio State and Michigan in the same season for only the third time in school history.
