North Avenue construction project to cause delays for 5 weeks
A project to patch potholes and install traffic sensors on North Avenue between County Farm and Swift roads will continue until at least late May, officials said Tuesday.
Because of the work, which began Monday, two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane will be closed through May 2. Two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane will then close from May 3 through May 16.
Crews plan to install the traffic sensors and stripe the road the following week with all work expected to finish May 23.
Illinois Department of Transportation spokeswoman Marisa Kollias said the project is part of a $1.1 million contract with Bensenville-based Acura Inc. that covers several portions of DuPage and Kane counties.
