Eagle project for troops was job well done

In January, Nicholas Schwingbeck, a Boy Scout from Troop 32, contacted the Military Support Ministry Group of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. He was trying to work on a project to earn his Eagle Scout Award and asked for our help.

His project was to collect articles much needed and wanted by our military forces overseas and mail them out to them.

He, with the help of his Troop members, passed out Love In Action bags to the congregation with lists attached of articles needed.

The response was great but he only had enough monetary donations to mail out 55 boxes on Jan. 28. The abundant items were stored.

They were not stored very long because Nick entered a Special Marathon and raised enough money to mail out another 70 boxes on March 5.

He has received many letters of thanks from military people in Iran and Afghanistan who have received the boxes.

A quote from one of the letters was as follows, "You have taken care of us, we will take care of you."

This was a job well done by a young man who cares. We would like more people to know about him.
