Backroom deals don't bode well
Demon Pass (Deem and Pass) has forever entered into the lexicon of the average American due to the charade of the legislative process taking place in the House of representatives as it relates to "health care reform." I purposely used the small case "r" in "representatives" because what has been taking place in the House certainly is not worthy of the proper respect a capital "R" would imply. The sad precedent that has now been established will poison the atmosphere needed to fully debate the challenges that are facing the country in the near future. Budgetary shenanigans, backroom deals and outright distortions of positions will virtually assure more harm will continue to be done to the fabric of this country than any possible good.
What should have been a transparent, honest assessment of the need for actual reform of health care has morphed into an ideological test of party loyalty vs what's best for the country. Does anyone doubt the same scenario will not rear its ugly head when other fundamentally flawed entitlements need to be addressed, i.e. Social Security. Our "small case r" representatives, of both political parties but especially the Democrats, are rendering the political fabric of this nation seemingly beyond repair.
