1 dead,4 hospitalized after auto wreck on Rt. 59 in Bartlett
One person died Friday night after a multivehicle accident on Route 59 and Army Trail Road in Bartlett, police said.
Paramedics took four to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and another to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, the Bartlett Fire Protection District said.
The other injuries don't appear life-threatening, said Bartlett police Sgt. Mike Rummell. Three vehicles were involved, but details remain scarce.
"Our accident constructionists are still trying to figure it out and they're talking to witnesses," Rummell said late Friday night.
Crews received the call around 6:30 p.m., and Route 59 remained closed in both directions near Army Trail Road. Officials remained vague on the extent of the injuries suffered as investigators were still at the scene.
Barlett fire officials said the wreck involved was a T-bone collision where an SUV struck the passenger's side of a sedan. Firefighters cut open the sedan to free the victims.
Bartlett fire sent four ambulances, a fire engine and the battalion chief to the scene.
