Ginobili signs 3-year extension with Spurs

SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has signed a three-year extension that will keep him off the free agent market this summer.

The Spurs announced Friday they finalized the deal after talks between both sides intensified while Ginobili has carried the Spurs to winning 17 of their last 24.

Ginobili has spent his entire eight-year NBA career in San Antonio, but injuries the past two seasons slowed negotiations between the Spurs and 32-year-old former All-Star.

Ginobili has lately abated any concerns. He's averaging 23 points since the All-Star break, playing once again like the sparkplug that helped the Spurs win their last three championships.
