Opening set for NCH's new South Pavilion
Imagine a hospital building designed specifically with you in mind, creating a total healing environment like you've never experienced before. That's what you'll find when Northwest Community Hospital hosts a Community Grand Opening for its state-of-the-art South Pavilion from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 25.
Come with friends and family to preview the new nine-story addition, which features 200 private patient rooms that open May 1. Those in attendance will learn about the building's innovative features and take tours of select floors such as the new Critical Care Unit, Labor and Delivery area, and Special Care Nursery.
Health education and kids activities are planned, along with giveaways. There will be an appearance by Radio Disney AM 1300 from 1-2:30 p.m., and The Mix 101.9 FM from 3-5 p.m.

The South Pavilion, which adds 284,000 square feet to the Arlington Heights hospital, takes healthcare to a whole new level. Advanced monitoring and treatment technologies are built into each patient room, along with Wi-Fi access. Natural light streams in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Handrails that run between patient beds and private bathrooms make navigation easier and safer. And there's a comfortable sofa for a family member to stay overnight. Patients and families can even take advantage of balconies on each floor for a breath of fresh air.
With views of rooftop gardens, soothing colors, and calm and quiet surroundings, everything about this highly researched healthcare environment is designed to invite nature indoors and promote healing. Multiple nursing stations on each floor, and an enhanced nurse call system, will help caregivers arrive at the bedside faster. With nutrition being an important part of a patient's recovery, a new Cuisine on Call program allows patients throughout the hospital to order freshly prepared meals at the specific time they are ready to eat.
The efficient use of energy, water and materials in the South Pavilion protects the environment and reduces long-term costs. In fact, the new South Pavilion is on track to be LEED certified - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - reflecting NCH's commitment to being an environmentally responsible hospital.
