Fire damages Palatine home

No one was injured in a fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in Palatine. The Palatine Fire Department responded to a house on the 600 block of North Robinson Street at 12:51 p.m. and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes.

The only person home was a woman who exited upon smelling smoke and seeing the fire in the first-floor laundry area. Investigators have yet to determine a cause. Battalion Chief Scott Ohlrich said the house has fire damage on the first floor and smoke damage throughout, making it uninhabitable.

No damage estimate was available.
