Ind. bowling alley destroyed by fire
HARTFORD CITY, Ind. -- A fire that started as a thunderstorm passed through the area destroyed a bowling alley in an eastern Indiana city.
Hartford City Fire Chief Brett Murray says flames were shooting through the roof of Northside Lanes by the time firefighters arrived about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
He tells The Star Press of Muncie that the bowling alley and its restaurant and lounge were a total loss. No injuries were reported.
Murray said there was a lot of lightning from the storm, but investigators didn't immediately know whether that caused the fire in the city about 20 miles north of Muncie.
Fire crews were at the scene for more than six hours and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings, including an Elks Lodge.
