Guillen's note for Piniella scripted out of respect
Did White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen curse the Cubs in their lopsided season-opening loss to the Braves in Atlanta Monday?
Of course not - OK, maybe a little.
The Sox wrapped up the exhibition season with a pair of wins over the Braves at Turner Field on Friday and Saturday.
Knowing the Cubs were opening the regular season there, Guillen left notes for Cubs manager Lou Piniella and starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano, who wound up taking the loss in Game 1.
"I wished (Piniella) good luck," Guillen said. "I also said, 'I beat (Atlanta manager) Bobby Cox twice and I hope you do, too.'"
All kidding - and cursing - aside, Guillen has a lot of respect for Piniella and Zambrano.
"I told (Piniella) I'm rooting for him and I hope that his team plays well for him," Guillen said. "That's the best thing I can do for him. I admire the man and I have a lot of feelings for him. If they play good, hopefully he can sign back with (the Cubs)."
