Historian to lecture about city planning

On Friday, April 9, historian Bill Briska will present a lecture on the historical context of Elgin's city planning to complement the traveling exhibit, "Deep Roots - Green Future: City Planning in Elgin," on display at the Elgin Public Museum. Investigate the issues of the day, what action was taken and how the planning process matured over the years, as well as Elgin's vision for the future. Bill Briska is a member of the city's Sustainability Plan Task Force, amateur naturalist, and historian.

The program will run from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., located in Lords Park. The fee is $6 for the general public and $5 for members. To reserve your seat, contact (847) 741-6655 or epm@cityofelgin.org.

Developed by the Elgin Area Historical Society and Museum, "Deep Roots - Green Future: City Planning in Elgin" investigates Elgin's economic development, urban design, housing, transportation, recreation and environmental conservation. Discover Elgin's connection to renowned urban developer, Daniel Burnham, who said, "Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir humanity's blood." Visit elginpublicmuseum.org for more special events based on this exhibit. It will run April through May.
