Brimm acted quickly in response to her problem
Your newspaper has been running many articles in the past months about the village of Buffalo Grove's turmoils and the early retirement of the village manager, William Brimm.
I have to say I am very sorry to see such a respected official leave office. Many of the comments about Mr. Brimm and his accomplishments are positive and I have one to add.
Back in September 2006 I took a very nasty fall while walking north on Buffalo Grove Road in front of Oak Creek condos. My daughter and I walk this route several times a week. It had just turned dark, the sidewalk is uneven and there is no lighting along this strip. The fall resulted in a broken finger and severely bruised legs and knees.
I wrote to Mr. Brimm explaining what had happened, expressing my concern over the bad state of the sidewalk and the danger it posed. Within a matter of weeks the entire strip of sidewalk in front of the condo buildings was removed and repaved.
Also, I received a very nice letter from Mr. Brimm thanking me for bringing this to his attention. (For the record, I was not looking for compensation.)
I was very impressed with the immediate action taken and he is certainly to be commended. I hope his replacement will be as responsive to the concerns of the citizens as was Mr. Brimm.
It is disheartening to hear of all the dissension on the current board. Reading between the lines in the many newspaper articles, it appears that the professionalism and success of this board have been compromised since the addition of one of the new trustees. Every week or so we read of another negative incident. Is this turmoil being done for the good of Buffalo Grove? Doesn't appear so from what I have been reading.
