Rod, you're fired.... again: Back to reality for embattled former governor
Because of his poor management and "terrible communication," Rod Blagojevich got the boot Sunday night on "Celebrity Apprentice."
The former Illinois governor came across as a lazy Luddite in this week's challenge, which was to create a 3-D presentation of Universal's new Harry Potter theme park.
On the flight to Orlando, to see the park, Blagojevich looked at his laptop and digital camera as if they were foreign devices and admitted that he doesn't know how to text or e-mail.
On the flight back to New York, Blagojevich napped while his competitor, a Victoria's Secret angel, studied Harry Potter on her computer and texted her teammates with ideas and information.
In the display, Blagojevich played the role of the professor, except he forgot to use an English accent and got a few of the story's facts incorrect.
Afterward, in the board room, Blagojevich failed to take responsibility for his team's failure - or is own. He explained his in-flight nap as, "I had my sunglasses on, so maybe my eyes were open."
While there was a good crack about "I can understand why you're a little nervous to use the phone," Donald Trump finally let the ax fall, saying, "Rod, you're fired."
Blagojevich stood up, shook Donald Trump's hand and said "Thank you." As he exited the hotel, Blagojevich greeted the bellhops with warm pats on the arm as if he were campaigning for office.
In his exit interview, Blagojevich explained that sometimes in life you lose, but "the real test of who you are is how you deal with it."
Trump is clearly a Blagojevich fan, and repeatedly praised his tenacity and courage. Trump said he understood that Blagojevich probably didn't throw his Jewish and black teammates under the bus, because he doesn't know who'll be sitting on the jury for his upcoming federal corruption case.
Blagojevich's teammate, celebrity chef Curtis Stone, didn't see what was so great about him.
"He's a governor. That's (expletive) unbelievable," Stone said.
