State: Part failed at Citgo's Lemont refinery

Citgo Petroleum Corp. had a compressor failure April 3 at its Lemont refinery that caused flaring, according to a report from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

The incident occurred early in the day and resulted in an emissions release, the filing showed.

Fernando Garay, a Citgo spokesman, did not reply to an e- mail seeking comment.

The plant can process 167,000 barrels of crude a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
