Sox put Castro on DL; Purchase contract of Donny Lucy

CHICAGO - Following today's workout, the Chicago White Sox placed catcher Ramon Castro on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to March 29) with a bruised right heel and purchased the contract of catcher Donny Lucy.

Lucy, 27, is a career .251 (346-1,376) hitter in 402 minor-league games in the White Sox system. He originally was selected in the second round of the 2004 draft and appeared in eight games with the Sox in 2007, going 3-15.

Castro, 34, batted .219 (34-155) with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 57 games last season between the Mets and White Sox. He was acquired by Chicago on May 29 in exchange for pitcher Lance Broadway.
