Cubs set Opening Day roster

ATLANTA - The Chicago Cubs today set their Opening Day 25-man roster in advance of their 2010 season opener tomorrow against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

The Cubs selected the contracts of infielder Chad Tracy and left-handed pitcher James Russell. Russell will wear uniform number 40.

Additionally, the Cubs placed two pitchers on the 15-day disabled list, both retroactive to March 26: right-handed pitcher Angel Guzman (right shoulder arthroscopic HAGL/labral repair) and left-handed pitcher Ted Lilly (left shoulder arthroscopic debridement).

The 2010 Opening Day roster includes 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders.

The Cubs open their 135th National League season tomorrow at 3:10 p.m. against the Atlanta Braves to kick off a six-game road trip. After three with the Braves (April 5-8), Chicago heads to Cincinnati for three games with the Reds (April 9-11) before returning home for their Wrigley Field opener Monday, April 12 vs. the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:20 p.m.
