Children's author to work with kids as he visits Geneva school
New York Times best-selling children's book author/illustrator Tom Lichtenheld will visit Harrison Street School at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in the school gymnasium, 201 N. Harrison St., Geneva.
Lichtenheld will work with students in all grades on creating effective stories, attempting to see things from various perspectives, and inspiring the creative nugget in all.
Lichtenheld has written and/or illustrated 11 children's books. "Duck! Rabbit!," which was created in collaboration with Amy Krouse Rosenthal, was chosen by Time magazine as one of the Top 10 Children's Books of 2009.
In addition, Lichtenheld wrote and illustrated "What Are You So Grumpy About?," which was chosen by Child magazine as one of the best children's books of 2005 and "Everything I Know About Pirates," which was featured in Newsweek's Books of Wonder for 2000.
Lichtenheld's new releases for 2010 include "Bridget's Beret," the story about a little artist who discovers her true potential and "Shark vs. Train," created in collaboration with Chris Barton, a book about what might happen if a shark and a train went head-to-head or snout-to-engine.
There will be a book signing and sale, with proceeds to benefit Harrison PTO.
