Reserve a rain barrel: Pre-ordering for rain barrels is under way through the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District. Barrels, which are 55 gallons and cost $79 each, come in black, blue, gray or terra cotta. Linking hoses, pedestal riser, flex elbows and other accessories can be purchased separately. The hoses can be used to connect multiple rain barrels or divert water to a garden or flower bed. Deadline for all orders is April 30. Pickup will be noon to 7 p.m. May 12 and 13, at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Live music and other free events are featured in area stores and restaurants. First Friday is one of 15 community events organized and produced each year by MainStreet Libertyville, a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization located in downtown Libertyville. Call (847) 680-0336.Firefighters vs. cops in Grayslake:Grayslake firefighters and police will square off in a charity basketball game at 6 p.m. April 10. The clash will be at Grayslake Central High School, 400 N. Lake St. Adult admission is priced at $5, and children at $3. Concession stands will be open and raffle tickets will be sold. Proceeds from the game will support the Hero's Fund, which was organized to provide scholarship money to local high school students. Businesses interested in donating raffle prizes or with general inquires may call the Grayslake Fire Protection District at (847) 223-8960.Antioch warns of fake $20 bills:The Antioch Police Department has received several reports of counterfeit $20 bills being circulated in the area during the last few weeks, police officials said.
