Ind. sheriff indicted in sexual harassment case

CORYDON, Ind. -- A southern Indiana sheriff has been indicted on criminal charges of sexually harassing two female police dispatchers.

A grand jury returned the 10 felony counts against Harrison County Sheriff Mike Deatrick on Thursday. He was booked into jail and was released after posting bond.

Deatrick has been the county sheriff for seven years and has denied any wrongdoing. He testified before the grand jury on Tuesday.

The women filed sexual discrimination complaints in 2008, claiming that Deatrick made derogatory remarks to them and touched one woman's breasts numerous times.

The charges against Deatrick include six felony counts of sexual battery and two felony counts of criminal deviate conduct. He only has to leave office if convicted of a felony.
