Des Plaines man wearing headphones nearly hit by train
A 43-year-old Des Plaines man was nearly hit by a freight train March 30 as he was walking along the outer belt tracks and listening to music, police said.
Neil W. Eubank told police he had on headphones and didn't hear the train - even though police said the engineer sounded the air horn for more than a minute as he was bringing the train to an emergency stop.
Police said he eventually left the tracks and they found him walking along Touhy Avenue at about 8:50 a.m.
Eubank, of the 1400 block of South White Street, was charged with city ordinance criminal trespass; his court date is April 27.
