Zook closing some practices at Illinois
CHAMPAIGN -- Football coach Ron Zook says he'll close practice at times this spring as Illinois starts the long road toward what it hopes will be an improvement on last year's 3-9 record.
Most of the Illini staff is new, and Zook says the team will be trying some new wrinkles behind closed doors.
Illinois fired four assistant coaches at the end of last season. Zook kept his job after a midseason endorsement from Athletic Director Ron Guenther.
On Wednesday, Zook said he feels no more pressure now than he did his first season at Illinois in 2005.
The coach also says linebacker Martez Wilson probably won't see any contact this spring. Wilson is coming back from a neck injury that cost him most of last season.
