Don't approve this subdivision

To my fellow residents of Hampshire:

A senior development: At first thought it sounds great. A senior development means a development with no kids to pay school expenses for, and still tax dollars raised to pay for schools through real estate taxes on 774 home sites.

What price are we willing to pay for this? It sounds good until we look at what the developer for Hampshire Grove wants to do, which is basically to put as many lots in as little space as possible. He wants to put 21/2 to 3 lots on what equals the smallest lot the city of Hampshire allows. The proposed streets are so narrow that parking will only be allowed on one side of the street. The property will have 17 ponds "for storm drainage" that will be left to go wild without maintenance. The developer says it will be sort of like Sun City, but they don't know when they will get around to building the club house. It won't be right away. He has eight models for his mini lots. However, in my opinion he has only two models with slight variations in garage doors, windows and other minor cosmetics. To me it looks like cookie cutter row housing.

The sad thing is our Hampshire planning and zoning boards have given the development the green light. All that remains is for the village board to approve it. Please, please, Hampshire residents, call your village board members and mayor. Ask them to vote this subdivision down.

We already have three failed subdivisions. Do we need another mistake?
