Lysacek's jive thrills the 'DWTS' judges
Dedicating his dance to Naperville did the trick for gold-medal winning figure skater Evan Lysacek.
Clad in a black leather jacket complete with an Elvis pompadour, figure skater Evan Lysacek and his partner Anna Trebunskaya danced a joyful 1950s jive that thrilled all three judges Monday night.
"You were grease lightning," Judge Bruno Tonioli told Lysacek.
The judges also praised his improved chemistry with Trebunskaya, and said they thought Lysacek looked like he was having a blast on the dance floor.
The jive usually is difficult for someone who is so tall, but "I thought you were completely in control," Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said.
The judges awarded them a 24 out of 30 possible points.
Lysacek said it was his visit back to his hometown of Naperville that helped him improve his connection with Trebunskaya. The cameras caught the pair's whirlwind trip to Naperville where they visited Neuqua Valley High School, chatted with Mayor George Pradel and even found time to lobby their fan base.
"I want you to do me a favor, Lysacek said, "I want you to program this number into your phones." He then rattled off the number to call and vote for him and Trebunskaya.
But Lysacek's still chasing Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and her partner Derek Hough. The pair turned in a near-flawless jive that Judge Bruno Tonioli said was the best jive he'd ever seen for a Week Two dance. They received a 28 out of 30. Scherzinger and Hough remain atop the judges leaderboard with 53 out of 60 total points. Lyascek and Trebunskaya are in second place with 47 out of 60.
One star will be eliminated tonight on the results show at 7 p.m. on ABC. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and reality show mom Kate Gosselin, appear to be in the most trouble. Aldrin looks lost on the dance floor and Gosselin, nerves and bad attitude are getting the best of her.
