Prize winning author to speak at ECC
Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Christine Schutt will be the next guest in the Elgin Community College Writers Center Reading Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in the Visual and Performing Arts Center, Room VPA 191D, on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Schutt is the author of two short story collections and "Florida," which was a finalist for the National Book Award. Her second novel, "All Souls," was a finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in fiction. Other honors include twice winning the O. Henry Short Story Prize, a Pushcart Prize, and a fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Schutt is a senior editor of the literary annual NOON and has taught at Columbia University, University of California-Irvine, Syracuse University, Barnard College and Sarah Lawrence College.

• Spartan Drive from McLean Boulevard west to Renner Drive is closed due to construction. Motorists may use either Fleetwood Drive or Weld Road to Second Street as an alternate route. From the west, motorists entering Spartan Drive from Randall Road will be detoured north onto Renner Drive to access the campus.
