Bayless to share cooking techniques

Award-winning Chicago chef-restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality Rick Bayless will appear at the Village of Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center on Saturday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. for a cooking demonstration and book signing.

Bayless was voted favorite author in a recent community survey.

Bayless, star of public television's "Mexico - One Plate at a Time," will demonstrate some traditional Mexican cooking and share stories about his travels to Mexico. Bayless has done more than any other culinary star to introduce Americans to authentic Mexican cuisine and to change the image of Mexican food in America.

Free tickets will be available beginning Monday, April 5, to Round Lake Area Library cardholders and members of the Friends of the Library (demonstration only). For $20, audience members can attend a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m. (includes demonstration).

On April 15, tickets will be available to the general public. You can pick up your tickets at the Village of Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A limited number of tickets is available. The center is located at 2007 Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach.

Bayless will conduct a book signing during the reception and following his demonstration. Some of his cookbooks will be for sale in the Gathering Room of the Center.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Round Lake Area Public Library.
