With Duke as example, Baylor 1 win from Final Four

HOUSTON -- Despite the major obstacles he faced, Scott Drew envisioned building an elite program when he arrived at Baylor nearly seven years ago.

One of the examples the coach has always looked to is Duke, like Baylor a small private school known for academic excellence. Except there had never been any comparison between the basketball programs.

Drew's hopes certainly don't seem so far-fetched now.

The third-seeded Bears (28-7) are within one victory of the Final Four. To get there, they must beat top-seeded Duke (32-5) in the South Regional final on Sunday.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski says Drew has done a really good job of figuring out Baylor's niche and says the Bears are talented enough to win the NCAA tournament.

While the Blue Devils are seeking their 11th Final Four appearance under Coach K, Baylor hasn't been that far in the tournament since 1950 -- when there were eight teams in the field.
