3 held in caustic liquid attack

Cook County authorities say three people from the southern Chicago suburb of Sauk Village are being held for allegedly attacking three female relatives with caustic drain opener.

One victim was burned over 25 percent of her body.

Andy Conklin of the Cook County State's Attorney's office says bonds of $20,000 apiece were set Friday for 17-year-old Kiana Richmond and 18-year-old Janet Richmond. Conklin says a 15-year-old was ordered held in juvenile custody.

The three are charged with heinous battery and aggravated domestic battery for the incident Wednesday night in Ford Heights.

Authorities say Kiana Richmond threw the liquid and suffered severe chemical burns herself. She was released from Loyola University Medical Center's burn unit on Thursday and taken into police custody. Janet Richmond and the juvenile are accused of helping carry out the attack.
