Eleni Polites was 2-for-4 with a grand slam home run Wednesday to lead the Cary-Grove softball team to a 10-0 win in six innings over Carmel Catholic.

Sarah Leudo had 2 doubles for the Trojans (2-1), who also got doubles from winning pitcher Lyndsay Efflandt and Alexi Haley.

Efflandt (2-0), a freshman, allowed just 2 hits and had 13 strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.

CL Central 2, Elgin 1: All the runs in this nonconference game at Elgin were scored in the first inning. Sophomore Hannah Perryman had a solo home run to account for the Maroons' score. Elgin (2-3) managed only 4 hits in the game. Jennifer Fulton gave up 7 hits in suffering the loss for the Maroons.

Wheaton North 2, Larkin 0: Sophomore Kiernan Schock allowed just 4 hits but Larkin couldn't produce any runs in this nonconference loss. Corinne Wimmer had 2 hits including a double for the Royals (1-2) while Lexi Smithberg also had 2 hits.
