Sox fans pick co-host for Spanish TV broadcast
South Sider Cynthia Jaramillo captured the online vote from fans to win the role as the new co-host of Chicago White Sox Spanish-language television show 'Orgullo Sox'.
Jaramillo, 21, the current Illinois Latina 2010, resides on Chicago's South Side and will graduate in May from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The life-long Sox fan was selected as one of four finalists from an open casting call held at U.S. Cellular Field in February.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the 'Orgullo Sox' team and have the opportunity to cover my favorite team, the White Sox, in what I hope is a championship season," said Jaramillo.
"This will be an exciting year for the show and I look forward to bringing the Latino community and Spanish-speaking fans the best of White Sox baseball."
The four finalists were selected by a panel of judges that included co-host Omar Ramos of Univision Radio Chicago, White Sox Spanish radio announcer Ozzie Guillen Jr. and Aileen OcaƱa, also of Univision Radio.
Fans were then given the opportunity to select the co-host of Orgullo Sox through online voting at orgullosox.com.
Jaramillo will start her role as co-host when the fourth season of 'Orgullo Sox' kicks off April 18 on Univision.
