Monk charged with molesting man at Willowbrook temple

A Buddhist monk was accused Wednesday of inappropriately touching an adult male attending temple services in Willowbrook.

Chaliaw Chetawan, 27, of Thailand, is charged with misdemeanor battery. He was set free after posting the required 10 percent of a $1,000 bond.

His accuser alleges Chetawan touched him in a sexual manner during a Sunday morning service at Wat Buddha-Dhamma Meditation Center on the 8900 block of Kingery Highway in Willowbrook.

A man who identified himself as the leader of the temple declined to comment Wednesday.
