Person killed by Amtrak train in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE -- A person has died after being hit by an Amtrak train in Milwaukee.
Authorities say the train was traveling from Chicago to Milwaukee when the victim was struck on a trestle.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says it happened after the northbound train left the station at Mitchell International Airport, shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Amtrak says no one on the train was injured, but the incident disrupted service on the Hiawatha route. Amtrak was chartering buses to help with the delays.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office was on the scene, and investigators were trying to determine what happened.
Information about the victim, including age and gender, was not immediately released.
