Salute Inc.'s annual party a big success

On Feb. 19, Salute Inc. held its sixth annual Family Pizza Party at Arlington Park's Trackside, and it was a great success and many new friendships were made.

We want to extend our appreciation and thanks to our sponsors who made this event possible, from Arlington Park, Royal Die & Stamping Co., Kelley, Kelley, & Kelley Attorneys at Law, Glueckert Funeral Home and all the friends and supporters who came out and shared the evening with us.

Each year we hold this event, we introduce service members and their families, who Salute Inc. has helped and ask them to share their stories and thoughts. One comment from a young man that resonated and stuck with me was when he said that it was an honor to serve his country, even with the hardships he has faced due to his injuries, he had no regrets.

When I heard this it made me realize that this is what America is all about, service above self, with no regrets. I will not forget that and I hope that message resonated with others who attended the event, as this is truly the secret to what makes our country great. Again thank you to all, especially Arlington Park and Mr. Duchossois, as you lead the way each and every year in supporting our heroes and their families, we could not do what we do without you and all the others in this great community of ours.
