Rolling Meadows will have fireworks on July Fourth
Rolling Meadows will have fireworks and a parade on July Fourth and a parade and dinner for veterans on Memorial Day weekend, the city council decided.
The events will cost the city about $55,000, and City Manager Sarah Phillips said she wanted feedback from the council about whether they should go forward in these very tough economic times.
But aldermen indicated at a recent committee meeting that they can't bear to cut these two community celebrations that mean so much to residents.
The council prefers the July Fourth parade step off at about 1:30 p.m. since the holiday is on a Sunday. The Rolling Meadows Chamber of Commerce has been asked to investigate whether this will fit with plans in neighboring communities so bands will be available.
