Traffic crash claims man in Batavia

Batavia police are investigating a fatal crash that happened early Saturday at Fabyan Parkway and South Randall Road.

Jesus J. Escalante, 31, of the 900 block of President Street in Elburn, died in the collision after colliding with another vehicle near the private Eagle Brook Country Club, Batavia police said. Authorities, who were summoned to the crash scene at 3:40 a.m., said Escalante was pronounced dead shortly after he was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

Authorities said a 36-year-old Hanover Park man was driving a blue 2001 Chevrolet Blazer north on Randall Road when the collision occurred with Escalante, who was traveling in a black 2007 Chevy Aveo west on Fabyan. Heavy damage was caused to both vehicles.

Police said the Hanover Park man was brought to Delnor for treatment. No charges or tickets have been leveled in the incident, which police said was under investigation.

Batavia police are asking that witnesses to the crash telephone Detective Jesse Kloese at (630) 454-2500.
