Stolen car found in Naperville pond
Police are trying to determine how a stolen vehicle wound up in a Naperville pond Friday morning.
A passer-by spotted a red 1997 Ford Explorer in the pond near North Aurora Road and Genesee Drive about 7:23 a.m. "with its rooftop at the top of the water level," Naperville police Cmdr. Mike Anders said.
Naperville police and fire teams searched the pond and found no victims.
Investigators have determined the stolen vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run Friday morning in the Trails of Country Lakes subdivision in an unincorporated area near Naperville, according to the DuPage County sheriff's office.
Police are investigating the incident but no suspects are in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call (630) 407-2400.
