Hanover Park man charged with being a drug dealer
A Hanover Park man is behind bars at Cook County jail following accusations he sold drugs from his home.
Juan Morales, 33, of 7350 Jonquil Terrace, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, said Hanover Park Deputy Police Chief Tom Cortese.
Morales must post 10 percent of a $50,000 bond to be released from the Cook County jail. His bond was set at a hearing Friday in Rolling Meadows.
Cortese said Morales was arrested about 8 a.m. Thursday when a search warrant was executed at his home. Cortese said police found 21 grams of cocaine in the home.
Morales was one of the targets of the police department's special operations group drug sweep that focused on home-based sales, Cortese said. He said Morales didn't give any resistance to cops.
Although police made an arrest at another home where a search warrant was executed as part of the drug sweep, Cortese cited a continuing investigation in declining to reveal the suspect's name.
In a statement, Hanover Park Police Chief David Webb praised the special operations group's effort in busting the alleged drug dealers.
"The department is setting a tone and sending a message that this type of activity will not be tolerated," Webb said.
