Trial postponed in hit-and-run that killed Wilmette student

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore prosecutors say the trial for a man charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Johns Hopkins student from the Chicago area has been postponed.

State's Attorney's Office spokesman Joe Sviatko says prosecutors have agreed to a delay until June so that DNA evidence may be processed. The trial had been set to begin this month.

Thomas Meighan of Elkridge is charged with automobile manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily injury or death and other offenses in the death of 20-year-old Miriam Frankl. The junior from Wilmette area was struck by a pickup truck in October near the Hopkins campus.
