Six in custody after reported shootout near Aurora mall
Six people are in custody following a reported shootout near the Westfield Fox Valley shopping center early Friday morning.
Aurora police Lt. Paul Nelson said the investigation continues into the shooting that took place near the 900 block of 4th Avenue.
He said a chase between two groups in two cars took place following the shooting. He said police managed to stop the chase and rounded up all the individuals near Route 59 and McCoy Avenue.
No one was killed or injured in the shooting or the chase, he said.
Nelson said police are still trying to determine if individuals in the two automobiles exchanged gunfire during the chase, or if one car was running from the second car.
He said the six subjects remain in custody and are being interviewed. No charges have been filed.
He said its unclear if the shooting was gang related.
