IDOT fined for routes 22, 12 work:The Illinois Department of Transporation violated stormwater regulations for the Route 22/12 project in Lake Zurich. A complaint and final order was issued last December by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency citing IDOT for violating water quality standards and failing to maintain proper erosion controls at the site, conduct inspections and maintain proper records. The agency worked with IDOT to correct erosion and sediment control problems and with the village of Lake Zurich to clean and reroute a part of its storm sewer system, according to Tinka Hyde, Region 5 water division director. The violations occurred in 2005 and 2006. The matter came to the EPA's attention when the Lake Zurich Property Owners Association reported excessive sediment discharges into the lake. The problems have been corrected and a penalty of $100,000 paid, according to the EPA.North Avenue to close:North Avenue from Route 83/Main Street to Deep Lake Road in Antioch will be closed as of April 1 for widening and reconstruction.
