Gurnee firm claims cosmetics ripoff
CHICAGO - Gurnee-based Paris Presents is suing a New York City competitor for allegedly ripping off its green cosmetics products.
In a suit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court, the Gurnee firm charged Manhattan's Accessory Zone with unfair competition for modeling its Natural Beauty products on Paris Presents' Ecotools.
The suit cites similar "eco-friendly" cosmetics brushes with bamboo handles and states, "The brushes are near-exact copies of plaintiff's brushes sold in nearly identical packaging," adding, "The defendant is copying so many of the key elements of the distinctive Ecotools package that it cannot be the result of coincidence."
The suit seeks an immediate and permanent injunction and asks compensatory and punitive damages.
