Coroner should call it quits
I was absolutely flabbergasted reading Kane County Coroner Chuck West's feeble attempt to explain his actions in 2007 when his deputies removed a television from a dead man's house. He stated that he did not want gang members breaking in the house and having access to weapons. Who does he think he is fooling?
I read the police report section of the Daily Herald daily and have never read of a gang member using a television to rob someone; I am pretty sure they prefer guns and knives as weapons. If he was concerned about the owner's property, the police should have been called to secure the crime scene and properly remove weapons and valuables.
He was then quoted as saying that he just wants to finish his term and "get the hell out of here." That is certainly not the type of attitude that the residents of Kane County should expect from an elected official, especially one whose decisions are as important as those of the coroner. West should do us all a favor by resigning and turning in his badges.
