Flood advisory issued

In the wake of this weekend's rain, the National Weather Service has issue a flood advisory for many areas of northern Illinois, including Cook, Kane and McHenry counties and the areas along the Des Plaines in Des Plaines and the Fox River in Algonquin.

The advisory is in effect until Sunday evening.

The suburbs received up to 1 1/2 inches of rain Friday night and Saturday morning, prompting the rivers to rise. Light showers and gusty winds are in the forecast for Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The heavier rain and more severe flooding has been in counties south and west of Chicago.
