Turning right on red is only an option

I read with great interest the Fence Post letters every day. I am amused and amazed by the number of people who write in saying they got a ticket from a red-light camera. When will you all wake up?

You don't have to turn right on red. Stay put until the light turns green, then go. You won't get a ticket.

I am not going to give $100 to Elk Grove Village or any other suburb that installs these cameras. I work too hard for my money.

These red light cameras, like the airline baggage fees and new surcharges that have come up, are ways for companies and municipalities to make money from us during this recession.

I give my business to those companies that are fair to me. The others I don't patronize.

If we all did this the people and municipalities that have instituted these fees will not receive the money they are looking for. Eventually the cameras will come down and the fees will disappear.
