Fire breaks out at Geneva liquor store

A small fire at a Geneva liquor store was put out before it could cause any major damage Wednesday night.

Lt. Bill Williams said the call was made about 5 p.m. at Hammar's East Side Liquors, 1439 E. State St.

When firefighters arrived they saw the fire behind the cooler and near the back wall. He said the fire didn't cause much damage and that the cause is still under investigation.

The call took about 30 minutes from the time firefighters arrived to the time the fire was out.
