Conan O'Brien taking his show on the road

Chicago Theatre performances already sold out

Comedian and former "Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien can't appear on TV until Sept. 1 - a major sticking point in his $45 million exit package from NBC. But that doesn't prevent him from taking his act on the road.

O'Brien's "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour" begins a 30-city North American swing on April 12 in Eugene, Ore. - and it's already sold out in Chicago.

The tour plays the Chicago Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 19 and 20.

The show promises to be "a night of music, comedy, hugging and the occasional awkward silence," and also features O'Brien's sidekick Andy Richter and his former "Tonight Show" band.

O'Brien quipped: "It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house."
