Open letter to Wasco Sanitary Dist. board

I am writing to protest the assessment of the legal/litigation expense fees of $20 per month. I find this to be an outrageous abuse of the public trust to assess these fees with no discussion or input from the public, and a claim there is no other recourse. There is clearly something going wrong with the management of the district in order for it to be entering into so much litigation.

Your letter to the captive customers of the district dated Jan. 11, 2010, not received until the middle of February, was the first time the customers were informed of these problems. You provide some level of detail respecting the first two lawsuits, and you claim they were resolved in favor of the district.

In the case of the first suit, this is contrary to other public information where it has been disclosed the judge stated this suit was the "stupidest" suit he has ever seen. The course taken in this matter was the result of poor judgment and poor management of an issue that should have been resolved by reasonable people acting in a reasonable manner without wasting the district's money on a lawsuit.

In the case of the second suit, why is it that the district had to be sued to provide the information required under the Freedom of Information Act? Is there something it is trying to hide or protect? Why couldn't it have just provided the information in a timely manner if it claims it was in compliance with the act?

In the case of the third suit, why is there absolutely no detailed information provided? How do you expect us to willingly pay your legal fees without providing us with information respecting the basis of the suit?
